Save The Dates

Let’s talk about it

When my friends at Basic Invites asked me to write a blog post about save the date wedding cards I knew it was something I’d be excited to share about. Save the dates are the first piece of physical stationery you send out for your wedding, but I can tell you first hand that finding the right style isn’t as easy as you’d think. Not to mention unique options like magnets and postcards! When Kylie (my fiancee) and I ordered our wedding save the dates, we spent hours trying to find the best style and color options.

First Impressions

Don’t get me wrong, everyone who you should be inviting to your wedding shouldn’t care about the quality of your save the dates. But with that said, you want to create a cohesive well-designed experience for your guests from the save the date to the send-off.

Customization

I’ve found that trying to start this kind of thing from scratch is a challenge and an unnecessary one at that. There has to be a balance between having control of the look and not being overwhelmed. Basic Invites has over 900 invitation sets, so I’m sure there’s at least one in there you’ll love. They also offer over 40 envelope color options (crazy right?) and 180 color options for each element.

Save The Date Magnets

A unique option for save the dates is Basic Invites save the dates magnets. Since most save the dates are kept on refrigerators it only makes sense that they can be magnets too! I think it’s a super cool way to give something to your guests that can last long after the wedding. You still have full customization just like you would with a normal save the date.

Postcard Save The Dates

Postcard style save the dates are definitely the more classic option. I choose to use postcard save the dates for my wedding save the dates. Basic Invites lets you choose a ton of customization options for these. Some of the custom options include paper shape, paper type, and foil options.
